Nintendo Should Just Let Us Explore

An article on Zelda Universe written by a guest named MYK1217, is suggesting that Nintendo allow players to go ahead and explorer around in Hyrule without being told where to go. For example, you are to find Dungeon X, but you don’t know where it is and have to set off to explore and find it. Sound familiar? It’s the same thing like in the first Legend of Zelda game, where you didn’t know where to go, and you had to explore around to find things and look for items, upgrades, money, all while fighting monsters that are trying to kill you.

To myself, I think that’s something we definitely need. Ocarina of Time was my first Zelda game, and I wasn’t sure on where to go really. After the Deku Tree, I spent awhile figuring out how to get to Zelda without being spotted and thrown out. After which I went to Death Mountain and Zora’s Domain to get the other two Spiritual Stones. After becoming an adult… That’s where the real issue came up. I didn’t know how to progress through the Forest Temple so I went to the Fire Temple in hopes something there would help back in the Forest Temple. I even spent many years going to the Spirit Temple before the Shadow Temple and only recently went through the Shadow Temple and then the Spirit Temple.

I like that. I like the fact you can go into any dungeon in any order you wish. Unlike in Twilight Princess which you had to go through all the dungeons in order. I even tried to go to the City in the Sky first and then Temple of Time, but the game didn’t allow it. Phantom Hourglass was similar, but my first time playing it I went to Mutoh’s Temple before I went to the Temple of Ice. Being able to explore and find areas before going to a temple makes it seem more like an adventure. I’ve heard that Spirit Tracks is like this and that’s good.

So Nintendo. Quit holding our hands and let us figure it out ourselves. We have fun doing it.
