Its seems as though not many people like the Oracles. I love them! They are very good, and I think its cool how they link together.
So do you like them or not?

I bought Ages a few years ago, but I never finished it. Partly because I had no Gameboy to play it on. Now that I actually have a Gameboy, I still haven't played it all that much. There's something about it that doesn't really appeal to me, I don't know.

I've played it and OOA is my favorite game over TP or even PH. =/. Then again that list keeps changing. :P

With every series, there's always those underrated games due to the fact that they're either not BIG series games, wrong timing, or overall just aren't appealing.

I actually think it's because they're not big games in the series and the timing alone. These games were released in 2001, the same year the Gamecube, GBA, and Xbox debuted. Also, the games themselves didn't see much hype or big emphasis in the gaming media, unlike other Zeldas such as TP, TWW, etc. that were BIG series games.

After all, the Oracles have the lowest sales of the entire Zelda series, from what I read. I take that as a more 'under-the-radar' sort of games, not hated games. If the games were hated, they'd be like the Sonic series: Tons of sales, but tons of people bitching. This is not the case. There weren't much sales, and there wasn't much talk.

But let me correct myself: There WAS some bitching. Capcom. They helped make these games. And for that, a lot of Zelda fans tossed them aside without giving them a chance and declaring them 'unofficial' Zelda games. In my opinion, that's all bullshit. A different company/studio made the Prime games in the Metroid series, but are they bitched about? Not really. Also the fact that yes, Capcom helped make them, but the games were overseen by Shigeru Miyamoto himself, the creator the series. These games were actually HIS idea, with the whole password system. Before Capcom did ANYTHING, they had to get his approval. So that whole situation of these games not being true is a bunch of bullshit. It's another reason these games fell more unnoticed than other games.

Now enough about the history. My opinion? Not counting the remakes, they're probably my favorite handheld Zelda, tied with PH. I had a lot of fun with these, and they may even be my most played Zeldas, because I played them frontwards and backwards and every which way with the passwords. I did the second quest where if you beat both games password linked, you get another password and start the process all over, but with 4 hearts instead of 3. I even borrowed my friend's copies of the games so that I'd have enough file room XD

I honestly thought the password tech was a brilliant idea, and not only is one of my favorite mechanics in the series, but in Video games overall. I know there was a third game that was scrapped because of complications with the password system. I think that if they were to remake the Oracles and try to revive the failed 3rd game, made available on DS with an even more advanced password/wireless system, it could work even better than before.

And of course I loved the story and the adventure quality of the games overall. Compared to other 2D games, this game felt the most like an actual adventure. Counting both games linked, you're dealing with a number of enemies and factions, instead of just 1 or 2 main guys. There's so much behind the scenes. You're going between 2 different lands, over changing seasons and passages of time. It was grand. Not to mention there was so much to do. I loved the Ring mechanics as well, reminded me a lot of the 'Badge' system from the Paper Mario games, which is also one of my favorite features about those games. And it's something I definitely want brought back in future Zeldas. The games were just...awesome. No other word to describe them, really.

Agreed completely. I think if they remade the Oracles games for DS, considering the DS' Wi-Fi capabilities (would outdo the passwords, unless they wanted to keep it true, like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon) and a complete graphic overhaul (although I always thought the graphics were fine), it'd probably sell tons.

Also, the use of animals (Dimitri and such) was just pure awesome-ness ^____^

dude, I love the orcales. most of my loz games are gone now due to one getting stolen with my ds, my older brother be a rear end and destroying my ww and my gamecube. my older brother selling oot and mm, and my older brother taking my tp game with him to fsu (florida state university) and then giving it back to me so scratched up that when you play it. you can only the first part where you try to round up all those sheep. after that, the worse thing to a gamer happens. the game gos off and a note comes on saying that the game is to scratched up. the only loz games I have left are the orcales and from playing them for so many times. I saw just how good they really are.

they really are awesome games.

@ TP disc scratched issue - I know EB Games has this, so Gamestop should have it to. It's this product called "Merlin's magic disc cleaner" (or something to that extent). It's something like $10 - $15. Once you get it, discard the liquid cleaner (it's crap), and go for the sandpaper. They give you this special sandpaper. Follow the instructions on how to use it, and apply it to the TP disc. It'll work like new. I used the sandpaper on my WW disc, which wouldn't even load the beginning cutscene before. Now it plays the whole game.

I actually like the Oracles. Even though I've already played one, I imagine they'd be a lot a like. It was cool having the Harp of Ages in OoA and being able to change things in the past and things will happen in the future. Really fun. :)
