“Why Ocarina of Time Isn’t the Best Zelda Ever” says Nathan of Zelda Informer.

OoT on the 3DS.

Nathan of Zelda Informer once again produces another article, this time his article is about why he thinks Ocarina of Time isn’t the best Legend of Zelda game ever made.

In his article he goes about talking about how Ocarina of Time is considered the best or great because of what it did for Zelda; taking the traditional 2D style of gameplay and changing it into a 3D game, much like Super Mario 64 did for the Mario series. He also said at the time, he didn’t like Majora’s Mask as much as he does now mainly due to a glitch of sorts in Stone Tower Temple which erased his file. He also goes on to talk about how other more recent games such as Twilight Princess and even the newly released Spirit Tracks are even better than Ocarina of Time at points.

I happen to agree with that. Ocarina of Time was a fun game, but more recent games make me like them more and not Ocarina of Time. I still find part of Spirit Tracks a bit more fun than Ocarina of Time. And no, I’m not a newbie to Zelda; I was about the age of seven to ten years old (or around there) when I had first picked up Ocarina of Time and started to be a Zelda fan.

Anyways you can check the article here. Give it a read.

Zelda Dungeon Gets a Face Lift!

Our affiliate, Zelda Dungeon, yesterday got a bit of a face lift and I think it was for the turn of the worse… that’s my opinion. I don’t mean to be rude but I could come across it with my post on their news post:

“This seriously seems like a major step back, in my opinion. I may have not liked the last layout all too much but I like it a tad better than this one. This one seems, in my opinion, to have been quickly thrown together and taken maybe a day or two to be designed while for other layouts it would take a week or more. I’m sorry, but since I’m more drawn to complex (but easy to navigate) designs rather than a layout you can whip up in under an hour in Dreamweaver and Photoshop this layout makes me a bit sad. Not sure if Caleb used his full potential in this design.

That is my opinion. I’m sorry if it’s harsh. Everything seems to be working in Google Chrome.”

Everyone in the community seems to be taking a step back and making more simplistic designs. Yes I DO realize that is good for user friendlyness, but when it is too much? Like I said above it looks like the design took maybe under an hour to be made and quickly thrown together. The only thing that looked like time was spent on was the banner itself and even then it’s not completely good looking to myself. The “Zelda Dungeon” in their logo looks a bit ugly (could have used less bevel and emboss) but I like their saying on the right a bit more (The “Let Us Take You Through The Dungeons” thing).

I’m not entirely how long this layout will last… If more negative comments are made (yes I have seen quite a few negatives in the news post already), I think they may make another layout. Thing is, you can’t just please one set of people; some people like simplicity, some actually like looking around at the design and seeing the time spent in it. When you focus on one more than the other, then issues arise. That’s my opinion.

That’s enough for this news post.

Vote for Zelda Wii as Most Anticipated Game!

Spreading the word from Zelda Universe, we have a poll for the most anticipated games that will/possibly be shown at E3. It would be nice if everyone voted for Zelda Wii (working title). Currently right now it is behind Crysis 2, Gears of War 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Civilization V, putting it in fourth place for Most Anticipated Game. Please help out!

Zelda Informer: Zelda Wii Must Evolve

Fan Art of Zelda.

Over at Zelda Informer, article writer, Dathen Boccabella, recently wrote up an article about Zelda Wii, saying that Zelda Wii must evolve. In the article, Dathen goes on to say how much each Zelda evolved from the last and once it hit The Minish Cap, everything halted to an almost complete stop and said that Zelda Wii needs to evolve greatly.

“If only one thing, what does Zelda Wii need to be? It needs to change more so than any other entry to the ever-changing series. We’ve pretty much seen the same dungeon formula since A Link to the Past. Change it. Decide not to use keys this time, it won’t hurt anybody. Upgrade the graphics, change the items, and introduce new characters. Zelda Wii, make the changes that every other game in the series has, but please take it further.”

Tingle… is Back?

He is! Or is he?

A news post ago, I said that Zelda In My Pocket announced that there was a new game in the Tingle series, and that they got a piece of concept art to prove it. This did make some people suspicious. Exactly how did this slip through Kotake, etc.? Well, it is indeed what you would call a “hoax,” but not so much, though. Zelda in My Pocket not only announced that it isn’t official, but that it’s a fan-made game for the Tingle series; it’s to be on the DS. This information was kept only to the Development Team of ZIMP.

The problem I see is copyright infringement…. Or maybe not.

The Ability to Fly: Should Link Be Able to Ride A Dragon?

On my usual browsing trips around the Zelda Community, I happen to stumble upon Zelda Dungeon’s usual “Featured Thread” news post… and this one quite interested me. This topic was the ability to fly around in Zelda. Eiji Aonuma said there may or not be a flying mechanic in the new Zelda game coming out. A topic at Zelda Dungeon’s forums was made by a fan wondering how would it be to fly in the game. Mases said what if Epona, the horse Link normally rides, was a Pegasus, a winged horse? Well I would like to say something more than a simple horse…. A dragon.

Exploding Deku Nut’s Golden Item Awards Winners Revealed!

Exploding Deku Nut’s Golden Item Awards have finally been revealed and with much wait, delay, etc., five sites have been awarded for the following:

I know many of you who are fans of Zelda Temple are questioning why we didn’t get an award. To be honest, I spent the last six or so months working on Version 9 and had made nothing I liked. If I could have made a version 9 that I found to be great, we could have won, but we didn’t. With that being said, I am not all that surprised we didn’t get an award, nor am I upset. An award is a trophy and nothing more or nothing less. As long as you like what you work on, it doesn’t matter if you get a trophy or not.

So to end this news post, congrats to the winners of their respective Golden Item Awards! And let’s hope for another round of GIA next year!

ZREO Remix – Byrne Theme

Zelda Reorchestrated has made a new song, this timeByrne/Staven/Diego’s Theme from Spirit Tracks! It’s an interesting song, but I’m not sure if I like this one better or the actual game one.

Still though, however, Byrne is awesome!

ZeldaInformer: Is Zelda In Decline?

Nathan over at ZeldaInformer recently made an article regarding the supposed decline in the Legend of Zelda series. By reading the name alone, you would think that Nathan is agreeing with the fact that Zelda is declining, but really all he is trying to say is that some people are too caught up in fact most of us have “changed and are saddened that the series hasn’t changed along with us”.

If you want, you can comment on ZeldaInformer in the link I left above or comment to this news post as well.
